  • Do I Need to have any prior experience in owning a restaurant to operate a Meatballs Etc. Franchise?

    You don’t need any prior experience in the restaurant industry, but it would certainly help. We understand that the majority of new franchise owners do not have prior experience and Meatballs, Etc. provides an excellent training program and all the tools you will need to be successful. Additionally, our team will be at your location as you open your restaurant to lend support.

  • How long will I be at training and what can i expect to learn?

    Our initial training program consists of approximately four weeks of classroom and on-site training at one of our affiliate restaurants in Maryland. We request that you and two of your mangers attend training. In addition, we will provide you with one of our trained team members at your site for up to 14 days (to be scheduled around your opening) .

     

    Your training program is intensive and includes: Recipes and Prep Procedures, Quality and Service Standards, Inventory Procedures, Equipment and Safety, Brand Compliance, Food Safety, and Sanitation and Health Code Compliance. The training program will ensure that you are ready to open and run your Meatballs Etc restaurant with complete confidence from day one.

     

    In addition, you will also be required to obtain a Serve Safe certificate (or equivalent state certificate; this varies by state) and an alcohol training certificate (again, you will need to follow the guidelines for your state). This training is in addition to your classroom training with Meatballs Etc.

  • Will you assist me with establishing my vendor relationships and initial inventory purchase?

    Yes. Most of our product is purchased from the same vendor. In addition, we order all of our branded, paper goods in bulk, which are available at considerably less cost than ordering on your own. We require each franchisee to use Meatballs Etc. paper goods. In addition, we will assist and advise you during your initial opening inventory purchase. Meatballs Etc. has an inventory and order guide system based on volume and revenues that each franchisee will follow on a weekly basis.

  • Does Meatballs Etc. offer financing?

    While we do not offer in-house financing, we are happy to provide referrals to some of the Nation's leading top lenders.

  • What are the initial franchise fees and my ongoing contributions?

    The initial franchisee fee is $35,000. Your ongoing royalties will be 5%, and you will participate in a creative fund (once established) of up to 2% of gross sales. We ask that you spend a minimum of 2% of your gross sales in local marketing

  • Where should I locate my restaurant?

    We appeal to a large cross-section of customers. Our locations are currently located in more suburban areas, and we will work directly with your local real estate professional to help select the best location available. In general, we are looking for significant community activity, including:

     

    • Mixed Medical Complexes and Offices
    • Schools and Recreational Areas
    • YMCA’s or Large Fitness-Related Centers
    • Theaters and Other Social Gathering Spots

     

    Ideally, we would like you in a space that is between 2,000 and 2,500 square feet and that can have outdoor seating, if available. It is not necessary for you to have a strong anchor tenant; however, visibility and signage is very important.

  • How long will it take me to open my restaurant once I have signed a Franchise Agreement?

    Your first location will generally open within 7 – 9 months of signing your agreement. If your location has already been identified, the time to open can be reduced considerably. It also depends on the condition of the real estate once we take possession. (First Gen Restaurant or Second Gen Restaurant)
